CPC Module 4 Test Practical Demonstration

The Driver CPC part 4 test is a practical demonstration of vehicle safety checks. You must already have passed the Driver Certificate of Professional Competence part 2 test case studies.

VEHICLE & LICENCE: You must take a vehicle for the Driver CPC part 4 test. There are specific rules on vehicles used for the driving test.

The lorry, bus, or coach you drive (and trailer) must meet the regulations.

Your trainer can help you arrange a test or you can book a driving test direct with the DVSA. You will need to take one of these driver licences with you:

  • Great Britain photocard driving licence.
  • Northern Ireland photocard driving licence and paper counterpart.
  • EU photocard driving licence (and paper counterpart if you have it).

Note: You may not have a photocard driving licence. In this case, take your paper driver’s licence and a valid passport. Failing to have the right documents means they will cancel your test and you will lose the fee.

How Driver CPC Module 4 Test Works

During the test you will need to demonstrate that you can:

  • Load the vehicle following all safety rules and keep it secure.
  • Perform checks to stop trafficking in illegal immigrants.
  • Assess emergency situations.
  • Reduce the likelihood of physical risks to yourself and to others.
  • Conduct a walkaround vehicle safety check.

The content of the Driver CPC periodic training courses consist of 5 individual modules. The topics will match the Driver Certificate of Professional Competence syllabus. Each of the five topics has a maximum score of twenty (20) points.

Note: You must score at least 15 out of 20 in each topic area to pass. Your ‘overall’ score must be least 80 out of 100 (80%).

Driver CPC Module 4 Test Result

The examiner will inform you whether you passed the exam after taking the practical test. They will provide feedback and explain how you performed.

What happens if You Fail the CPC Part 4 Tests?

You can go ahead and book another practical driving test straight away. But, you must wait at least three (3) clear working days before you can resit the tests.

DVSA Cancelled Tests

It is uncommon but the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency may cancel the test at short notice. In this case, you can apply for a refund to cover your out-of-pocket expenses.
