DURING THE MOT: All the important vehicle parts will either get tested, checked, or inspected.
The same type of MOT rules and regulations apply to motorcycles as well as cars and vans.
A nominated MOT tester will conduct the vehicle testing at the centre. He will ensure that the parts meet legal standards for safety and emissions.
In most cases, there will be a viewing area at the vehicle testing centre.
That means you should be able to watch how the MOT testing works.
Note: The testing station will not allow you to interrupt the vehicle tester during the inspection.
Parts Tested and Checked at MOT
There is a long list of car parts tested in an MOT. The same applies to the most important motorcycle parts during its annual inspection.
Note: The test is not the same as having a vehicle serviced. It does not check general mechanical condition, such as the engine, clutch, or gearbox.
Maximum Cost of MOT Testing
Testing stations cannot charge above the maximum MOT fees shown in the table below. Even so, MOT test price will vary according to the type of vehicle.
Note: For example, the highest fee for a car is £54.85 and the cost to test a standard motorcycle is £29.65. They cannot charge VAT on top of the fee.
