ANIMAL TRANSPORT<\/strong>: The rules relate most to those who transport live animals by road.<\/p>\n In particular, it is the movement of cattle, goats, pigs, poultry, sheep or equine on road journeys over 65km.<\/p>\n The mileage also includes travel up to and including eight (8) hours. In this case, drivers must undertake a legal qualification to ensure competence.<\/p>\n We refer to Council Regulation (EC) No 1\/2005. It stipulates the importance of the protection of animals during transport and its related operations.<\/p>\n This regulation requires that those transporting and handling animals in connection with economic activity get trained in the relevant technical provisions of the Regulation.<\/p>\n Compliance comes under the Council Regulation (EC) 1\/2005. That particular piece of legislation took effect from the 5th of January 2007.
