But, you can <a href=\"\/rules\/immigration\/arriving\/healthcare\/\">calculate the immigration health surcharge fee<\/a> before you apply.<\/p>\n<p>An application may include part of a year that amounts to less than 6 months. In this case, you would pay an amount equating to half the 12 month charge (e.g. as per 6 months of leave).<\/p>\n<p>But, some applications will include part of a year that amounts to more than 6 months. In this case you would pay an amount equal to a whole year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Note<\/strong>: They will not grant a visa or immigration application unless you pay the healthcare surcharge. Likewise, paying the wrong amount will delay applications for <a href=\"\/rules\/immigration\/\">immigration and visas<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It is possible to pay the healthcare surcharge fee for more years than you get granted leave to stay in the United Kingdom. In this case and automatic process will grant you a &#8216;partial&#8217; <a href=\"\/rules\/immigration\/arriving\/healthcare\/refund\/\">immigration health surcharge refund<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<hr>\n<p><\/p>\n<h2>When to Pay IHS Charge<\/h2>\n<p>Most applicants choose to <a href=\"\/rules\/immigration\/arriving\/healthcare\/payment\/\">pay immigration health surcharge online<\/a>. But, you can also apply at a premium service centre. In this case you would need to pay the surcharge as part of your application or when you book your appointment.<\/p>\n<p>If you apply for a visa by post you must <a href=\"\/rules\/immigration\/arriving\/healthcare\/\">pay the IHS payment online<\/a> before sending in the application.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Note<\/strong>: Remember to include the immigration health surcharge reference number on the application form.<\/p>\n<p>UK Visas and Immigration will contact you if you fail to pay the surcharge (or not enough). The UKVI operate this service as part of the visa or immigration application.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Within 7 Working Days<\/strong>: For those applying outside the United Kingdom.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Within 10 Working Days<\/strong>: For those applying inside the United Kingdom.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It is important to pay the correct amount and in full.
