FIFA DISCIPLINARY<\/strong>: The disciplinaries have been set in motion by FIFA.<\/p>\n The venue for the breach of FIFA Football Rules<\/a> occurred during World Cup qualifiers.<\/p>\n Team supporters held cards aloft to create poppy mosaics in the stands at their home games on 11th and 12th November 2016.<\/p>\n Wales and Northern Ireland players also wore black armbands during the internationals.<\/p>\n A FIFA disciplinary committee said they had opened proceedings against Wales and Northern Ireland Football Associations.<\/p>\n They confirmed that it is in relation to incidents involving the display of cards and signs. The International Football Association Board (IFAB) govern the laws of the game.<\/p>\n Their rules state that all players’ kit ‘must not have any political, religious or personal slogans, statements or images<\/strong>.’<\/p>\n Related Story<\/strong>: Why Did FIFA Ban Poppies on International Jerseys?<\/a><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The chief executive of the Welsh Football Association said they were ‘disappointed and surprised’ by action taken by FIFA.<\/p>\n He said their intention was to show respect<\/strong> in the right and proper way on Armistice weekend.<\/p>\n FAW also stated that they adhered to the rules and regulations of the competition.<\/p>\n They followed communication from FIFA prohibiting the FAW request. But they want the players to wear a poppy symbol on their armbands.<\/p>\n The website of the Football Association of Wales listed the reasons for FIFA’s action. They included:<\/p>\n The IFAB includes several individual representatives.
