Send the form to the HM Passport Office address written on the form.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Note<\/strong>: Remember to send <a href=\"\/rules\/immigration\/passports\/photos\/\">passport photos<\/a> and supporting documents.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<hr>\n<p><\/p>\n<h2>Applying for a Child Passport by Post<\/h2>\n<p>There are two ways to get the paper application form if you want to apply for a child passport, or baby, by postal methods:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You can get it from any branch that offers the <a href=\"\/rules\/immigration\/passports\/post-office-check-and-send-service\/\">Post Office Check and Send service<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Contact the Passport Adviceline to get a form posted to your address.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Passport Adviceline<\/strong><br \/>\nTelephone: <a href=\"tel:03002220000\">0300 222 0000<\/a><br \/>\nOutside the UK: <a href=\"tel:+44(0)3002220000\">+44 (0)300 222 0000<\/a><br \/>\nTextphone: <a href=\"tel:1800103002220222\">18001 0300 222 0222<\/a><br \/>\nMonday to Friday: 8am to 8pm<br \/>\n<a href=\"\/rules\/employment\/working\/time-off\/bank-holiday-calendar\/\">Weekends and public holidays<\/a>: 9am to 5:30pm<\/p>\n<p>If you use the paper form you will need to fill in sections 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and section 9. If your child is twelve (12) or older they will need to sign section six (6).<\/p>\n<p>A &#8216;countersignatory&#8217; needs to fill in section ten (10) and <a href=\"\/rules\/immigration\/passports\/countersigning-passport-applications\/\">certify the photo of your child<\/a>. The person who fills in section 10 should be someone who knows you and your child.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Note<\/strong>: HM Passport Office has produced a booklet as a help guide. It explains <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/applying-for-a-passport\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">how to fill in a passport application form<\/a> and provide the correct photo.<\/p>\n<p>There are two methods of sending in a first child passport application form. You can either:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Send the form, photos, and the documents by postal methods. If so, you can use the HMPO pre-printed envelope that accompanies the form.<\/li>\n<li>Take the form, photos, and documents to the Post Office if you are using the Passport Check and Send service.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<h4>Signing the Passport Application Form<\/h4>\n<p>The person who signs the passport application must have <a href=\"\/rules\/children\/childcare\/pregnancy\/parental-responsibility\/\">parental responsibility<\/a> for the child or baby. The child also needs to sign it if they are between twelve (12) and fifteen (15) years old.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<hr>\n<p><\/p>\n<h2>First Child Passport Documentation Required<\/h2>\n<p>For the UK, you will need to send certain documents along with a first child&#8217;s passport application form, including:<\/p>\n<div class=\"category-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"normal-content-one\">\n<ul>\n<li>Two (2) &#8216;new&#8217; photos of your child or baby (according to <a href=\"\/rules\/immigration\/passports\/photos\/\">passport photos rules<\/a>).<\/li>\n<li>The full birth or adoption certificate for the child (showing the details of the parents on it).<\/li>\n<li>Proof that your child has <a href=\"\/rules\/legal\/citizenship\/british-nationality\/\">British nationality<\/a> (e.g. a British registration certificate or parent&#8217;s passport details).<\/li>\n<li>Any valid passports from a different country if they belong to the child.<\/li>\n<li>Any court orders (e.g. describing residency arrangements or parental responsibility).<\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div>\n<div class=\"normal-content\">\n        <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.theukrules.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/first-child-passport.jpeg\">\n    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>HM Passport Office only accept original documents or official copies of certificates. Thus, you may need to <a href=\"\/rules\/legal\/citizenship\/general-register-office\/\">register with the General Register Office<\/a>. They do not accept photocopies or &#8216;certified copies&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Note<\/strong>: What if the documents are in a different language other than English or Welsh? In this case, you must send <a href=\"\/rules\/business\/banking\/certifying-documents\/\">certified translations<\/a> along with the originals. You must not send laminated documents.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<hr>\n<p><\/p>\n<h2>If Passport Name is different to Birth Certificate Name<\/h2>\n<p>If the name on the passport does not match the name on the birth certificate you will need to send:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A signed and dated letter from everyone who has parental responsibility for the child. It must confirm the name change and that all parties agree to the child getting a new passport.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"\/rules\/legal\/citizenship\/deed-poll-name-change\/\">A deed poll name change<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Some evidence showing the use of the new name (e.g. NHS records, school records, or child benefits).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<hr>\n<p><\/p>\n<h2>Choosing How to get Your Documents Returned<\/h2>\n<p>As a rule, HMPO send back the documents by regular postal services. But, you can choose to have them <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dxdelivery.com\/support-area\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sent by secure delivery<\/a> for a small fee (about \u00a35). There is a service for <a href=\"\/rules\/immigration\/passports\/adult-passport\/interview\/\">tracking a passport application<\/a>. When they deliver it to you, they will either:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Post the passport through your letterbox.<\/li>\n<li>Deliver it by hand (if you are at home).<\/li>\n<li>Leave a card or post a letter saying how you can get it.
