That means it may not be registered with DVLA.<\/p>\n<p>In this case you should follow instructions and procedures set for <a href=\"\/rules\/driving\/vehicle-registration\/new-registrations\/\">first time vehicle registrations<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<hr>\n<p><\/p>\n<h2>Get Original Vehicle Registration Number<\/h2>\n<p>Often you can register an old vehicle under its original registration number if:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It was never registered before at DVLA.<\/li>\n<li>The vehicle has an age-related registration number.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In either of these cases you need to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Follow the instructions for <a href=\"\/rules\/driving\/vehicle-registration\/new-registrations\/\">new vehicle registrations<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Complete form V765 &#8216;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/application-to-register-a-vehicle-under-its-original-registration-number\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Application to register a vehicle under its original registration number&#8217;<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Have form V765 endorsed by one of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/application-to-register-a-vehicle-under-its-original-registration-number\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">vehicle owners&#8217; clubs<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Provide a recent photograph of the vehicle along with documentary evidence that relates it to the original registration number (e.g. original log book).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Note<\/strong>: We recommend <a href=\"\/rules\/driving\/licences\/\">contacting the DVLA<\/a> if you need further details on what you need to provide. Follow that by sending your old vehicle application to:<\/p>\n<p><strong>K and R<\/strong><br \/>\n\tDVLA<br \/>\n\tSA99 1ZZ<br \/>\n<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p><\/p>\n<h2>After DVLA Application for Historic Vehicles<\/h2>\n<p>The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency issue a V5C registration certificate. They will also give you either:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>The original registration number.\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Note<\/strong>: This means you cannot <a href=\"\/rules\/driving\/number-plates\/transfer-a-registration\/\">transfer the registration<\/a> it or put it onto retention at a later date.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>Another registration number appropriate to the age of the vehicle.\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Note<\/strong>: A non-suffix or prefix number is non-transferable also.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><\/p>\n<hr>\n<p><\/p>\n<h2>Registering Old Vehicles in Northern Ireland<\/h2>\n<p>The process of DVLA historic vehicle registration differs in Northern Ireland. Send in a completed V62 form and the RF60 form to:<\/p>\n<p><strong>MCT 2<\/strong><br \/>\n\tDVLA<br \/>\n\tSwansea<br \/>\n\tSA99 1ZZ<\/p>\n<p>DVLA will complete the registration of the vehicle and then <a href=\"\/rules\/driving\/vehicle-registration\/get-v5c-logbook\/\">issue a new V5C log book<\/a> to the registered keeper.
