Warm Home Discount Scheme 2018/19

UK energy suppliers operate the £140 Warm Home Discount payment. The WHD scheme provides financial aid to those who need it most to help pay winter energy bills.

WHD SCHEME UK: The one-off payment could reduce your electricity bill by £140 if you qualify.

But, not everyone qualifies for the Warm Home Discount Scheme. Some people will need to apply each year to get consideration for payment.

This guide explains the eligibility criteria to meet the Warm Home Discount regulations. Find out how to make a claim for the annual payment and do it before the yearly deadline date runs out.

Claiming a Warm Home Discount payment does not affect a claim for Cold Weather Payments. You could also get a Winter Fuel Payment as well.

The WHD scheme operates throughout the coldest months between September and March. Payment is a one-off discount taken off the consumer's electricity bill. The money is not a direct payment made to you!

WHD Pre-pay and Pay-as-you-go Meters

Those who use a pre-pay or a pay-as-you-go electricity meter may still qualify for the discount. In some cases, you would get a voucher for topping up your meter. Contact your electricity supplier for more information.

Park and Mobile Homes

Applications have now closed for winter 2017 to 2018. You can contact Park Home Owners Club or 'Charis Grants' if you have an existing application.
