UK energy suppliers operate the £140 Warm Home Discount payment. The WHD scheme gives financial aid to those who need most help paying winter energy bills.
WHD SCHEME UK: The one-off payment could reduce your electricity bill by £140 if you qualify.
But, not everyone qualifies for the Warm Home Discount Scheme. Some people will need to apply each year to get consideration for payment.

The WHD scheme operates through the coldest months from October to April. Payment is a one-off discount taken off the consumer's electricity bill. The money is not a direct payment made to you!
Those who use a pre-pay or a pay-as-you-go electricity meter may still qualify for the discount. In some cases, you would get a voucher for topping up your meter. Contact your electricity supplier for more information.

The qualifying date for the Warm Home discount scheme is the 9th of July 2017. Eligibility depends on all these applying to your situation on the qualification date.

Electricity suppliers apply the reduction to the bill before the end of March 2018. Contact the Warm Home Discount Team if you do not receive a letter but you believe you should qualify.
