If you contact the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) they will be able to confirm whether the instructor is registered with Pass Plus. But, you would need to know their full name and their ADI number.
Pass Plus Test Fee
So, how much is the Pass Plus driving course? In fact, the fees vary depending on which area you live in. Other factors, such as the instructor or driving school you book with and how long the training takes, may also affect the price structure.
How Does Pass Plus Work?
There are six (6) modules and it takes around one (1) hour to complete each training module. The six Pass Plus modules cover different types of driving, such as:
- Suburban or town areas (e.g. hazard awareness)
- Using the roads in a range of different weather conditions
- Driving on rural country roads
- Getting around at night time
- Driving on dual carriageways
- Heading off and driving on motorways
The main focus of each session is practical, so you should spend more than five hours driving. Even so, depending on the local conditions, you may also have some theory based lessons as well.
Unlike taking driving lessons in preparation of the practical test, you do not need to take a test to pass Pass Plus courses. Instead, the instructor will assess your driving skills, based on a required standard in each module, and throughout the course.

Pass Plus Cymru (Wales)

Applying for a Pass Plus Certificate
Your Pass Plus instructor will give you a training report form, signed by both of you, once you reach the required standard in all six modules.
You only need to apply for a Pass Plus certificate to get a discount on your car insurance. To get a certificate, send the signed form to the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency. The DVSA will then send it to your address by post.

Getting a Car Insurance Discount
One of the benefits of completing a Pass Plus driving course after learning to drive is getting reduced rates on car insurance. But, you must have a Pass Plus certificate to apply for the discount.
The amount of money you can save will depend on the insurer (some companies do not offer it at all). In some cases, the insurance company might allow you to put the discount on hold (e.g. if you do not have a car).
Note: As a rule, the limit is two (2) years after passing the practical driving test. Check with your insurer to make sure you can still get a discount.
