Hats Rule at Royal Windsor Horse Show

This article explains the Windsor Horse Show safety headwear rules. Riders should wear correctly fastened hats in all class competitions.

Horse Riding Safety Headwear

The head protection should meet industry standards with SE1 or kite mark. (PAS015, EN1384 or ASTM F1163).

Consequently, there is a mandatory rule for wearing hats with chinstraps for competitors in Sport Horse Breeding of Great Britain and British Show Pony Society classes.

These regulations still stand according to both societies’ rules.

SHB of Great Britain remains the governing body for all major Hunter and Sport Horse shows throughout the country.

Even so, there was some displeasure among some members. So, they also adopted the new headgear safety ruling this year [2014].

CHAPS Should Follow Current Rulings

In contrast, recommendations by the British Show Horse Association (BSHA) class allow competitors the choice of wearing protective headgear or not.

The adult challengers in the Coloured Horse and Pony Society – CHAPS – class are advised to follow the show’s current rulings.
